St. Louis Headshots | A Good First Impression When Networking

The More People You Know the Further You Will Go! Business people in today’s world have to network and build their communities.  Business portraits or headshots are designed to help you network and leave a memorable first impression. They allow people to feel they know you before they meet you.

The most important thing in a headshot is that it reveals the real you. It has to say something about your unique qualities. We tell our customers to think about the headshot session as a conversation with friends. We want to show you being YOU naturally. Your headshot should look like you are telling a friend a happy or exciting story. Your legit or dramatic headshot should look like you are engaged in a more intense or serious conversation. We make that happen by creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere where you can comfortably express yourself.

Professional Tips On How To Effectively Take Better Headshot Portraits

Many people believe that photography is too difficult or too expensive a hobby for them to get involved in, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Just like anything else in life, the best way to get started is by learning.

If you want to take high quality portraits, do not rely on your camera’s built in flash. Instead you want to look at investing in a softbox to use for external lighting. If you can’t afford this, look into purchasing an external flash unit with a diffuser for your camera.

When photographing headshots, isolate your subject. Use a medium telephoto lens or the medium telephoto setting on your zoom. That, combined with a large aperture, blurs the foreground and background. Focus on the eyes. Use diffused lighting for a flattering look. If outdoors, wait for an overcast sky or shoot with the subject in the shadows and the sun at your back.

Experiment with the focus on your camera to create interesting pictures. You can focus on your subject more by using a smaller depth-of-field to blur the background. This is a good technique to use when the subject is up close, such as in portraits. You can get a greater depth-of-field using a larger f-stop so that everything can be shot in focus. This can improve the scope and definition in landscape shots.

The memories of our life are precious, and it is important to capture them in headshots. Whether you want to try capturing yourself or call upon our professional firm, you will have a better understanding of the imaging basics.
